The call for nominations for the UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education was launched on 8 March, International Women’s Day. Established in 2015 and funded by the Government of the People’s Republic of China, the Prize honours outstanding and innovative practices advancing girls’ and women’s education. It consists of two US $50,000 awards to help further the work of laureates in this field. This Prize honours outstanding innovation and contributions made by individuals, institutions and organizations in advancing girls’ and women’s education. The first edition of the Prize was awarded in 2016 to two laureates from Indonesia and Zimbabwe, and the 2017 laureates were from Thailand and Peru. The deadline for submission of nominations is 11 May 2018 and the online platform is available both in English and French.
